One of the first visits for Brendan Bordner after he cut down to eight schools was a return to Rutgers. Rutgers made the Hilliard (Ohio) Bradley three-star defensive end's top eight after a camp visit.
The Scarlet Knights solidified themselves as an option for Bordner after today's barbecue visit.
"[Rutgers] just feels like a great fit for me and I've built a great relationship with the people there," Bordner said.
Bordner plans to enroll early, so he wants to see as many schools as possible before a final decision. His most recent visit to Rutgers was for a special recruiting event, which included more than a dozen verbal commitments and the majority of top uncommitted prospects on the team's board.
Bordner heard often from Rutgers commits, he said.
"Spending the night with [sophomore] Kevin Wilkins and hanging out with him and some of the other guys was big," Bordner said. "As well as today I talked a lot with Mike Tverdov, as well as Micah Clark, Owen Bowles and Bryce Watts."
Coach Chris Ash and Bordner spoke in-depth during the visit before the 6-foot-4, 250-pound rising senior hit the rainy road home to Ohio.
"I think he's a very intelligent man who really knows his football and knows what it takes to win games," Bordner said. " ... [The visit] was good. It gave me a great chance to get around the players and commits. It gave me a great chance to build more relationships."
