Deonte Roberts vs Curtis Samuel Special Clash for Erasmus Hall

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- When Rutgers linebacker Deonte Roberts and Ohio State running back Curtis Samuel inevitably crack helmets Saturday, it becomes a special moment for Brooklyn (N.J.) Erasmus Hall.

Rutgers sophomore linebacker Deonte Roberts on playing against Brooklyn (N.Y.) Erasmus Hall teammate Curtis Samuel...

I treat it like another week. It's the same preparation. I don't try to focus on me against him. I just try to focus on doing my job, executing whatever the coaches call. I'm just trying to do my job.”

On what this game means for Erasmus Hall...

It means a lot. Me and him have talked about it in the past and it's about to happen this week. It kind of means a lot to both of us. I guess we're going to both go out and play our game and see what happens.”

On a scouting report for Samuel...

I know him very well. He's a pretty fast guy. He's very fast, great cutting ability, runs good routes, real physical.”

On what Roberts sees from Ohio State on film...

I see a lot. They're really fast. The linemen move really well. Their quarterback makes great decisions, so we know we have to execute and be on point with every call we make. Their receivers are pretty good, so matching up with their receivers and stopping the run and things like that. Come out with a win.”

On how the linebackers played in a 14-7 loss to Iowa...

I think we did pretty well executing the calls, fitting certain runs and everything. In the pass game [we were] getting to the quarterback a lot. I think we did pretty well. Unfortunately we didn't come out with the win.”

On losing defensive end Quanzell Lambert to a season-ending knee injury...

That hurts losing a guy like him. He's a great leader. That's one of the guys I look to when the defense is not going well. He brings us up. Losing a guy like him that helps us, it just gets us motivated and go out and play well for him.”
