Rutgers WR Andre Patton Reacts to New Quarterback

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- A quarterback change surprised senior wide receiver Andre Patton, who offered his take on the move Tuesday after practice.

Rutgers senior receiver Andre Patton on practicing with a new quarterback...

I really didn't see a difference. We came out Sunday's practice and we were moving the ball down the field pretty well. We were making competitions, catching and throwing the ball pretty well so I really don't see a difference.”

On what Giovanni Rescigno brings to the table...

A lot of toughness. He can definitely put the ball there. He's smart. I think he can just go out there and do his job.”

On his reaction to a quarterback change...

[I was] a little surprised but when you want the team to succeed, sometimes you have to sacrifice and make decisions in order for the team to move on and succeed down the road. It was a decision that had to be made from the head coach. As a player, we just have to roll with it. We just have to keep Gio [Rescigno's] spirit up and go out there and let him know that he can do the job and get it done.”

On chemistry with quarterbacks...

That goes back from all winter, all spring and summer and all of the reps and the amount of time we put in together to be able to get that chemistry.”

On what Rescigno is like in the locker room...

He's cool. He's outgoing. He's a real good guy. He'll do what he's supposed to do on and off the field. I respect him as a person. … He is here where he's at now because of his work ethic, because of how hard he's worked in the offseason and going into the season. He's still worked hard on the scout team. He made his way up.”
