PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- A new era for Rutgers basketball begins tonight against Molloy. For the uninitiated or late-comers, Scarlet Report brings you a look at what to expect from an offseason full of change.

Meet the new and improved Rutgers basketball program.

  • Steve Pikiell comes with winning experience at Stony Brook, Connecticut and George Washington.

  • Pikiell took Stony Brook from 4-24 in year one to an NCAA tournament appearance.

  • Associate head coach Karl Hobbs won national titles under Jim Calhoun & Kevin Ollie. He has 10 years of head-coaching experience with GW.

  • Jay Young spent the last 11 years with Pikiell. A defensive architect, Young coached in 6 NCAA tournaments.

  • Brandin Knight returns home to New Jersey after 12 postseasons as a player & coach with powerhouse Pittsburgh.

  •  Corey Sanders leads the charge at point guard with 15.9 points, 4.3 assists & 1.8 steals per game as a freshman.

  • Sanders' 2.97-second 3/4-court sprint is the fastest in BAM combine testing history.

  • Starting C CJ Gettys has 2 CAA title rings & started against Duke in the NCAA Tournament last March.

  • Issa Thiam has lights-out potential as a shooter. He is Rutgers' only freshman starter.

  • Pikiell signed and announced his “No. 1 priority” in recruiting – 6-4 guard Geo Baker.
