Rutgers offers Big-Game NY Receiver Paul Woods

Fresh off an explosive game in his state championship, wide receiver Paul Woods of Buffalo (N.Y.) Canisius received his first Big Ten offer. The 2018 receiver spoke with Scarlet Report about Rutgers and his budding recruitment.

The first Big Ten offer for Buffalo (N.Y.) Canisius 2018 Paul Woods receiver felt like validation for a season's worth of the grind and a recent state championship.

Rutgers verbally offered the 6-foot-1, 160-pound receiver Tuesday in its search for a deeper position group.

I'm excited about Rutgers because they have a lot of senior receivers, so I could get a real chance there,” Woods said. “It's a school where I could really see myself playing there. I've been to a couple of their games and I know they have top academics too.”

Woods calls himself a big-game player that wants a showcase opportunity in a conference like the Big Ten.

I've put in a lot of hard work and dedication into this,” Woods said. “I love to perform on the big stage. Any time I have a big game like last Sunday, I was there in the state championship that we won with nine catches, 179 yards. I love the challenge.”

Woods made a name for himself this summer with a standout camp performance at Ohio State. His first offer came from Boston College. He wants to visit Pittsburgh and Syracuse junior days as well as a return trip to Rutgers.

I'm looking to see a lot, and how many times they pass the ball and what kind of opportunities I could have,” he said. “I want to feel like I could compete for a spot in the rotation early and know that I'm going to a place where I can trust the coaching staff.”
