Scarlet Report TV: 1-on-1 with Four-star OL Micah Clark on Early Rutgers Enrollment

HOLMDEL, N.J. -- Scarlet Report goes 1-on-1 with offensive lineman Micah Clark, who joins the Rutgers roster in two weeks.

Holmdel (N.J.) St. John Vianney four-star lineman Micah Clark on moving on to Rutgers...

It's been a long process just waiting to finally be able to go to Rutgers now.”

On if he ever thought about another college...

Not one second. I would have calls asking me if I would decommit or if I'm coming on a visit and I just didn't want to. I just felt like that was the wrong thing to do. Even though I was committed, I still could take my official visits and I didn't. The only official visit I took was to Rutgers. I felt, 'how would that show towards the Rutgers fans and the program with me taking other officials'?”

On arriving at Rutgers...

I'm really excited. I just can't wait to get up there and learn. Yeah, I want to play. But first, I need to learn the game of football at that level and really get adjusted to it before I can step on that field. I think, actually, I know that I'm going to be able to get onto that field and give it all my best.”

On goals for this semester...

My goal is to really stay on top of my grades. I can't get anywhere without my grades. I can't slack off. In the beginning of the football year, how is that going to show toward my coaches? Really, the goal is to be on time for everything with the morning workouts and the afternoon lifts. Be on time. Get everything done the way it's supposed to be.”

On relationships at St. John Vianney...

This school, I love it here. Everyone is here for each other. If one kid is slacking, 10 teachers try to talk to that kid and figure out what was the problem. Why are you slacking? Is there something going on at home? We need to improve this. That really helped me out throughout high school. A couple years ago going through family loss, I would slack off a little bit and my teacher would come to me with 'what's going on?' I'd tell her and she'll work with me and I'll get right through it. Now I'm doing great."

On his college number...

Hopefully I can stay 56. If not, I'm going to take up No. 70.”
