Rutgers Hosts 4-Star RB Cordarrian Richardson on Official Visit

Memphis (Tenn.) Trezevant four-star running back Cordarrian Richardson updated his recruitment with Scarlet Report after his official visit to Rutgers.

Memphis (Tenn.) Trezevant four-star running back Cordarrian Richardson left Rutgers Sunday without a commitment, but has the Scarlet Knights in his mind with a decision soon.

Richardson declined an in-depth interview until his stressful recruitment ends. Richardson did say, however, that Rutgers impressed him during his first trip to the area.

"I had a good time," Richardson said. "I liked what they're doing. ... I didn't commit but I like them, like Rutgers."

Red-shirt freshman defensive tackle Julius Turner, who played at Meridian (Miss.), hosted Richardson on the visit.

"Julius is my dude," Richardson said. "He was great."

A trip Saturday afternoon with host Turner and the Rutgers coaching staff to Madison Square Garden was a highlight, he said. Richardson and other recruits watched Rutgers basketball take No. 15 Wisconsin to overtime.

Richardson, a former Clemson commit, goes to the same school as Rutgers defensive end pledge TiJaun Mason. Rutgers made a late push for Richardson after head coach Chris Ash visited the school. Mississippi and UCF hosted Richardson on visits earlier in January

"Any school is a blessing, when kids can go to the next level to play football, any school,” Trezevent principal Ronnie Mackin said. “But a school like Rutgers, that plays a schedule like it plays — national TV pretty much every week — and to be 45 minutes from the biggest city in our country, that’s really going to be able to expose (Mason) to a lifestyle and a way of life that he’s never seen before."
