Penn State Commit Chris Bleich Visits Rutgers

Penn State commit Chris Bleich visited Rutgers Friday, and sees an SEC school next week. Where does his recruitment stand and how was his experience at Rutgers?

Plymouth (Pa.) Wyoming Valley West offensive lineman Chris Bleich said he remains committed to Penn State but visits elsewhere began Friday at Rutgers. The three-star lineman and long-time member of James Franlin's 2018 recruiting class plans to visit Mississippi State next week.

“The [Rutgers] visit went great,” Bleich said. “I loved it down there. I toured the whole campus, the facilities and met with all the coaches. … [Head coach Chris Ash] just talked about what they are building and how they will be a tough, hard-nosed team.”

Bleich explained offensive line coach AJ Blazek as a highlight of a full day on campus.

“I really enjoyed my time with coach Blaz,” Bleich said. “I was going over o-line highlights from Rutgers last year, and telling me a few of their calls and who gets who.”

Bleich visited with family, including his uncle John Bleich, who lettered for the Rutgers football team in 1993 and 1994.

“He said the place changed a lot,” Bleich said. “He ran into an old teammate [during the visit]. I'm close with my uncle.”

While Bleich stated a firm “yes” when asked if he remains committed to Penn State, he said “I can see myself being there” when asked about Rutgers as an option.
