Following a Thursday visit to Rutgers, running back Kyle Dobbins feels like a top target for the in-state Scarlet Knights.
In return, Rutgers sits in Dobbins' top four alongside Temple, North Carolina and NC State.
“My visit today was nice,” Dobbins said. “I was at practice and I got to talk to coach (Chris) Ash, coach (Henry) Baker and coach (Lester) Erb. They told me 'you're the guy.'”
Rutgers made a strong message about where the Richland (N.J.) St. Augustine Prep star could fit in Piscataway.
“They said, 'you're on the top of our board,'” Dobbins said. “You'll really fit here because you're a Jersey guy, and we need more Jersey players to build a good team that has good tradition. They want to build up the relationships. (Ash) just came in last year, so he's really building up his program.”
Unlike Dobbins' three other top schools, Rutgers has a family tie. Dobbins' mother attended Rutgers Camden with degrees in business and education.
“She likes Rutgers but she said (the New Brunswick campus) is way different,” Dobbins said. “It's their main campus, obviously, so it's way bigger but they've told me that it's my decision to make and not theirs. They want me to get as much information as I can from every school before I make a decision.”
Dobbins calls himself a decisive runner with an eagerness to prove himself.
“I bring explosiveness,” Dobbins said. “I'm a 'through the hole' guy. There's no dancing and no cutting.”
