Harbor City (Calif.) Narbonne three-star quarterback Jalen Chatman could not wait any longer after his Rutgers visit. Chatman wanted to commit at the end of the month, but that changed after he fell in love Sunday and Monday with the Rutgers campus.
Chatman visited for two days with family. He committed Monday evening to coach Chris Ash.
"It feels great and it's the perfect fit for me," Chatman said.
Chatman is the third member of the 2018 class. As the quarterback, he wants to lead the class as a recruiter.
"We are going to turn things around very soon, and we'll be a big competitor in the Big Ten, that's (my message)," Chatman said.
Rutgers offensive coordinator Jerry Kill targeted Chatman early in spring evaluation. He offered the Narbonne star after a visit to the school, and made an impact during the visit to New Jersey.
“The visit was great,” he said. “I saw everything. It was two full days worth of touring the facilities and meeting all of the coaches and everything like that. My favorite part was talking to all of the coaches and talking a bout what they would do with me if I would go there.”
