Florida Standout Sets Rutgers Trip

William Beckford, a 6-0, 200 pound linebacker from Glades Central High in Belle Glade, Fla. has the Knights on his short list along with Pitt, Georgia, LSU and K-State. They've all offered along with West Virginia and Alabama.

The 1st team all-state (3A) player from a year ago is a hard-hitting linebacker with great quickness.

He's a head-hunter looking for the unfortunate soul who has the ball in hand.

"I love to hit and if you've got the ball, I'll hit you," he told TheInsiders.

An outside linebacker prospect, he already has several sacks in this young season and is the kingpin of a talented defense.

As a junior he had over 165 tackles with 12 sacks, no wonder he already has offers from a dozen schools.

At this point Pitt is at or near the top of his list along with Rutgers, where he'll trip Jan. 18, Georgia, LSU and Kansas State.

Florida State and West Virginia also are in the hunt. Beckford says he's more than willing to leave the state as he wants to experience life away from the Sunshine State.
