Herndon LB A "Can't Miss" Prospect

Kevin Grant, a 6'2 ½, 232-pound senior linebacker from Herndon, Virginia is a "can't miss" prospect according to coach, Tom Meier. In his 3rd year starting at linebacker for Herndon, Grant is dominating this season and is leading his team in tackles – by far.

"He's our leading tackler after four games," said Coach Meier of Kevin Grant. "He's doubled the amount of tackling points of everybody else on the team at this time. He's a tremendous tackler. Still, his strength is his explosiveness. He's got long arms. He's a very big and explosive kid and he's a big kid for a high school linebacker."

Running 4.7 speed, it's no wonder that he's got interest from many of the top schools in the region. "He's being recruited by everybody on the east coast," Meier said. "He'll be a D-1 linebacker, it's just a matter of where he goes. I know Wake Forest, I've sent them film and they are very, very interested. Here in the area, the University of Maryland, William & Mary, Villanova, Virginia, Virginia Tech, N.C. State, and UNC [are interested.] All those schools…Syracuse, Rutgers, Pittsburgh."

"He's one of those kids, he's a can't miss kind of kid," Meier said. And although Grant has no offers at this point, they'll come soon according to his coach – every school wants a kid with talent on and off of the field.

Not only is Grant a great talent on the field, he is also very studious and does well the classroom. "He's got a 3.5 GPA and 1,100 SATs," Meier said. "Great kid, great kid, great kid."

Colleges want great kids and Grant fits right into that category. Once film gets out from his senior season, expect the offers to come and, soon after, one college will have a great, great kid.
