I received this note from Dimirti Linton:
"Currently I have 1117 yards and 16 touchdowns, I rushed for 220 yards against State Ranked Fort Lauderdale Dillard High School and I helped our team defeat them 27-24 making us 1-0 in the district and 3-2 overall. I am on pace to break Ely's Tyrone Moss's record which was set in 2000. Moss rushed for 2011 yards in a regular season and I have a good chance of breaking that record. I am also on pace to break the regular season touchdown record of 28 because I already have 16 touchdowns in only five games."
Some folks on bulletin boards have been knocking the recruitment of Linton. I have seen this kid on tape. Believe me, he is the real deal. He could fake you into an out of body experience.
Don't forget West Jersey:
There are a number of players from Mercer County who are not getting the attention that they should. I received this note from a West Jersey coach about last weekend's action:
"QuaShawn Pitman had a 167 yards on 15 carries in a 17 to 7 lost to Hamilton High East. And Tiquan Underwood completed 12 of 15 passes for 152 and 2 Td's, ran 2 times 13 yards and a TD and he also caught 5 passes for 137 and 2 more Td's. Rich Gunnell had 4 caught passes for 111 yard and 2 Td's as Notre Dame beat Hamilton High North 42-0. Evens Joseph had 159 yards on 33 carries."
Another interesting player in West Jersey is Jonathan Nalbone, a 6-5, 215 TE out of Lawrence. He has gotten serious interest from Penn State and Rutgers.
Going after bloodlines
Rutgers recently got a verbal from Chazz Lynn the son of former NFL player, Johnny Lynn. He isn't the only player with an NFL father the Knights are looking at. London Fryar, the son of Irving Fryar, is having a great year at Holy Cross. He is getting serious attention from the Scarlet Knights. Fryar is a wide receiver with speed and hands.
Rutgers had been involved with 6-8 Chris Alvarez out of the Blair Academy. Had been, that is. On Sunday, Ollie Bailey verballed to Rutgers. On Monday, Chris Alvarez chose Dayton. The Knights had extended a scholarship offer to Alvarez but ended up filling that need when Bailey committed.
In other basketball news point guard Ronald Ramon from All Hallows has eliminated RU from consideration, he chose between Providence and Pitt.
