Galindo decides

St. Benedict's senior forward Alex Galindo made his decision and this one may shock a lot of people.
St. Benedict's (N.J.) senior forward Alex Galindo decided to pass on the Big East and head West. The 6-7, 200-pound Galindo (No. 83, committed to UTEP after a weekend visit.

Galindo also considered Rutgers, Villanova and Pittsburgh - but did not take any other official trips.

``He took the one visit and canceled the other three," St. Benedict's coach Dan Hurley said.

Galindo has a terrific feel for the game, is versatile and his talent even got a solid look from Arizona after a strong showing at the ABCD Camp in July.

``He'll be a Rookie of the Year in that league and will start all four years," added Hurley. "He'll have a great career there. This may be a better fit for Alex and I think he handled the process well."

Galindo averaged 15 points and seven rebounds per game after coming to the United States from Puerto Rico. One of the key reasons why Galindo chose UTEP is because of his relationship with assistant coach Sergio Rocco, a former assistant at Florida International.
