Harold Dalton Update

Harold Dalton is one of New Jersey's finest athletes in the class of 2004. VTI caught up with the safety prospect to get his thoughts on his team, his season, and his recruitment.

"The team hasn't been going to great at all," said safety Harold Dalton. "Individually I'm doing pretty well. Defensively I'm having a very strong season but the rest of the team isn't as strong team-wise but I think we'll pull it out. I'm not sure how many tackles I've got – it's probably in the 30s but I know I have six forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and one interception."

How does Dalton make the plays to force six fumbles so far this season? "Hitting em, me catching them from behind stripping the ball out, that kind of thing," he said. "Hitting mostly like on a big hit and boooooow, it just pops out."

While he has causing fumbles on the field, his play is also causing college recruiters to take notice. "I'm taking an official to Iowa this weekend," Dalton said. "Right now, I'm looking at Virginia Tech, Iowa, North Carolina, Tennessee, Rutgers, Minnesota, and that's pretty much it. Well, and Indiana and Purdue" Each of those schools has offered.

Does Dalton have any favorites at this point? "Not really, it's wide open right now," he said. "I like most of them. I like Iowa, Virginia Tech, Purdue. I like Rutgers. After my visits I'll know where I want to go." At this point, Dalton has visits set to Virginia Tech, Iowa, Indiana, and Tennessee.

What will be one big deciding factor for him? "I'm looking for a chance for me to get out and compete for a spot as soon as possible," he said. "I know I'll be a freshman, but I want to have a chance to compete for a spot."
