One major reason for Irvington's success this season is the play of their star senior defensive lineman, Nhemie Theodore. "So far I have 45-tackles, seven sacks," he said. "I'm playing good but I haven't had that breakout game yet."
Meanwhile, a host of schools have offered the New Jersey native including the Hokies. Theodore estimates that he has accumulated 15-16 offers after his latest offer. "I've just got a new one from Tennessee," he said.
At this point, seven schools are under heavy consideration for Theodore's services. "Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Iowa, and Rutgers," he named as his favorites. All have offered according to Theodore.
Theodore has taken a few unofficials but has yet to take an official visit this year. "I've taken a lot of visits to Rutgers because they're close to home," he said. "And I've been to Virginia, but they're not one of my favorites and the same with Penn State."
And officials? "I think I have one to Tennessee December 19th," he said. "Probably the only two definites right now are Virginia Tech and Pitt." Why does Theodore plan to visit Tech? "They have a good history with defensive tackles going to the draft, a good coach down there, and I like the atmosphere," he said. "I haven't been down there but I can see they have good coaching and a good program."
Theodore was also impressed with the Hokies' win over Miami this past weekend. "It was a good defensive game," he said. "They really dominated the game."
Theodore noted that he plans to
wait until he takes visits to at least Tennessee, Pitt, and Tech before he
decides. Stay tuned to VTI for the latest on his recruitment.
