Rutgers makes surprise invitation to BC game

In a bit of a surprise move Gerry McGroarty a K/P out Wilkes-Barre Pa got a fedex with an invitation to the Rutgers-Boston College game. Gerry was contacted by Rutgers this week and they Fed X'd and invitation to game against Boston College this week. The McGroarty family is going to try to make it to the game. Gerry has official offer from Buffalo and a few others verbally said they are going to offer. His schools of interest are Connecticut, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Buffalo, Northwestern, West Virginia, Rutgers, and a few others in no order. He led the state last year with 11 field goals with a long of 53 and none shorter than 32. He has the state record with a 64 yd field goal and that ranks 4th national all time. His current punt average is 42.5 and about a third of his 32 touchbacks have gone through uprights. He is a finalist for Max Emfinger All American Super Seven, was Prep Star All Region and is up for Prep Star All American.

Last season Gerry was Associated press and Pennsylvania Football News First Team All State, All local newspapers and Coach's Dream Teams. Super 33 Team. Killer Bees Downtown Athletic Club Scholastic Athlete of the year, 3 year All State Swimmer.

Gerry is an all around athlete who can play other positions in addition to handling kicking duties.

"I played wide receiver a few times. I am basically concentrating on kicking. In the one game that I played at wide out I had 105 yards in two receptions. My three receptions as a WR for the year were 59, 47 and 36 yards. On those plays I was running fly patterns and just beat the defense. My stat from a combine I went to were: 10 yard dash 1.5; 20 yards shuttle 4,28; 60 yards shuttle 12.03; bench press 230; standing broad jump of 9 fee1 inch. I am also a swimmer. I was an all state swimmer as a freshmen and three time all state."
