FL RB draws Big Time offers

"I have set an official visit to Rutgers on November 12, and Iowa State is the next visit I want to set," said St. Petersburg Catholic rusher Deondrea Lindsey, who rushed for more than 1,200 yards this season to go along with 21 touchdowns. "I have scholarship offers from Michigan, Miami, Florida State, Wisconsin, Iowa State, West Virginia, South Florida, Rutgers and Boston College.

"Iowa State and West Virginia are my top two right now. I like the way they value education at Iowa State. I know I'll be getting an education and not just there to play football."

Lindsay said the other three programs he has plans on visiting are Miami, Boston College and Michigan.

So what do the Cyclones have going in their favor?

"My opportunities are pretty good," Lindsey said. "I think I can come in and help the team a lot. They said if I can put on about 15 more pounds, I can probably come in and play on punt returns, kick returns and some slot."

But the talk of official visits can wait for Lindsey, who leads his into a Class 5A playoff game against against John Bishop Friday night. St. Petersburg Catholic finished the year 7-3 overall competing in Class 5A, District 2B.

As a Division I recruit, Lindsay has attracted coaches with his breakaway speed and quickness on offense. His lowest clocking in the 40-yard dash is 4.35.

"They like my speed, versatility, how I move, and how I'm quick and fast," he said. "I don't really copy any other running backs; I like to stand out on my own."
