Miami defeats Rutgers 34-10

Rutgers played the Hurricanes head to head for three out of four quarters -- However, the one quarters that they didn't matchup was a killer

Rutgers played the Hurricanes even for three out of four quarters.

It was the other quarter that was a killer.

The Knights went into half time down only 6-3. Both teams had played tough defense in the first half and held the other to field goals and their only scores.

In the fourth quarter RU outscored the Hurricanes 7-0.

But it was a devastating third quarter that spelled doom for the Scarlet Knights. Blocked punts, a series of bad penalties and an interception were fatal to RU's upset plans. Miami went on a 28-0 scoring tear to put the game out of reach.

Things to feel good about:

  • Sophomore quarterback Ryan Hart broke Scott Erney's single season record for passing yards by a quarterback. Ryan was 23 for 46 and 190 yards. Hart now has 2586 yards this season, breaking Erney's record of 2536. Hart hit seven different receivers including 7 completions to Brian Leonard and 7 to Shawn Tucker.
  • Brian Leonard had 17 carries for 53 yards in some of the most rugged running of the year.

Things to be concerned about:

  • Rutgers offensive line (though much improved over last year) could not matchup with the Hurricanes. While Greg Schiano has recruited well at many positions, offensive line has been under recruited. This may come back to haunt the Knights in future seasons.
