The 3-1 Rutgers women, battered from many early season injuries play one of
the most ambitious December schedules in the country. It all starts this Sunday
at Clemson where the Knights face an always tough 2-0 Clemson squad.
The Tigers lost a 50th Anniversary all-ACC performer in Chrissy Ford, but return 4 starters from their first losing,non-postseason team in 16 years under the tutelage of highly regarded coach Jim Foster.
Depth and the performance of 6-0 Lakeia Stokes are the keys for the always pressing Tigers. This is a game which RU could win at full strength or at home, but one which will be very difficult to capture on the road.
Center Shalicia Hurns,guard/forward and inspirational leader Chelsea Newton and forward Mariota Theodoris are all expected to miss the contest.Cappie Pondexter still has a gimpy ankle and South Carolina native Nikki Jett has some bruised ribs.
The rest of the month gets ever tougher with Tennessee,LSU and surprising Harvard on the road and TCU and Temple at home.
RU would do well to split these 6 games heading into a key national television game at home against Ohio State on January 4, followed by the Big East Opener at home against Virginia Tech and projected Big East center of the year, Ieva Kublina.
