Shukree Barfield

Shukree Barfield (DL - 6'4", 290lbs, 4.9 forty) from Camden HS in Camden, New Jersey is one of the top DL prospects in the state of New Jersey. His size, quickness, speed, and athleticism has caught the attention of Penn State, Tennessee, and Kentucky.

One of my former teammates coached for one of the better teams in South Jersey. His team had potentially two Division IA prospects on the offensive line. Barfield gave them all that they could handle and more.

On the weekend of December 12th, he took his first visit to Rutgers. What did he think of the visit?

Liked everything about the visit. The facilities are impressive, especially the additions. The coaches were easy to talk to. The team was like a family."I would not mind going to Rutgers"

What did they do?

When to parties, played video games, and hung out in the typical spots where the players do. I also visited the ESPNZone. It was great.

I had a position meeting with my position coach Randy Melvin, where he discussed some of the defensive plays and the work ethnic needed to succeed.

During the visit, did anyone commit?

I do not know.

Where will you visit next?

Kentucky - January 9th

Miami - January 14 th or 16th

Tennessee - ???

Iowa - ???

When do you plan on making a decision?

I plan on taking all of my visits before making a decision

Do you have a leader?

No.

What is the biggest factor in you making a decision?

- Facilities - They should be nice and a place where I can feel comfortable
- Team - They must display an ability to want to work
- Coaches - They must have the ability to teach the right things and stride for excellence

Notes

As a senior, Barfield had 7 sacks, 55 tackles (9 for loses) and 2 interceptions - one for a TD.
He also plays basketball. Last season, he averaged 8 points and 12 rebounds. He describes himself as a space eater.
