Name: Leo Ferrine
Position: CB
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 180 pounds
40-yard dash: 4.4
Hometown/School: St. Peter's Prep, Jersey City, NJ

St . Peter's Prep ended their season at 10-1 on November 22 with a loss in the state semi-finals to eventual state champ Don Bosco Prep. With the season ended and his academics well in hand (3.1 GPA and 1020 SATs), Leo is finalizing plans for visits to interested colleges. Internet rumors incorrectly had him visiting Penn State this past weekend.

"I set up a visit to Penn State for January 17. I set the visit up with Coach Ganter on Tuesday of this past week."

This will be his second official visit after visiting
Rutgers last weekend. Are any other visits planned?

"I have
Notre Dame right now for January 23rd and that's it. I'm thinking about Virginia for a visit but I'm not sure about a fifth visit yet. I've been talking to Virginia. The last time I talked to them had to be the weekend they played Virginia Tech. They said they were getting ready for a bowl game and that they would contact me after that game. I've talked to them about setting a visit but haven't made a date, though."

The last time we talked to Ferrine he had offers from Rutgers and Virginia. Any new offers?

"Penn State. I got a written offer in person from Coach Ganter on Tuesday at my high school. Notre Dame just got my transcript, I think Friday, and their DB coach is going to visit me at my school on Monday. I should hear from them, if not Monday, probably then the week after that."

For St. Peter's, Leo played WR, DB and returned kicks and punts. What did Penn State have in mind?

"They liked that I'm able to play offense, defense and kick returner and punt returner. That's one scholarship they can give away for many positions. They liked that I was a very athletic person and liked my tapes. They're primarily interested in me at corner but Coach Ganter said if I can get my position down pat I could play offense too. Coach Carter is going to visit me at my school next week or the week after to talk more about offense."

Do you have a favorite?

"I don't really have a favorite. Just going to Rutgers for that visit, they surprised me. It was really excellent what I saw. I'd have to give them the edge just because I've officially visited there. I don't really have one favorite, though."

Although he said he had no favorite he was clearly impressed with Rutgers.

"They are making new facilities that they said will be finished in the spring and the facility should be one of the tops in the country. The football program is basically freshmen, they only graduated 11 seniors I think. They ended up 5-7. Being in New Jersey I'm used to hearing 1-11 or 3-9 so that was a big improvement in my opinion."

What do you think about Penn State?

"Record-wise they really didn't have a good year. I know Penn State will come back. The season they had this year really doesn't affect anything. As long as Coach Paterno
