As referred to earlier in the week, Jean Beljour (RB/DB, 6'1"-210lbs, 4.4 forty) from Hackensack High School in Hackensack, New Jersey has committed to play football for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights this fall. He selected Rutgers over Connecticut, Syracuse, Boston College, and Western Michigan. During this season, Beljour ran for over 1200 yards and registered over 60 tackles from his OLB position. He is a multi-sport athlete, who has high jumped over 6'9" and is a member of the wrestling and track team.
Due to his versatility, Beljour has the ability to play running back, Linebacker, or defensive back on the colliegiate level. The position does not matter to him. However, his first preference is running back.
Beljour could be leading the way for a number of other Hackensack standouts, who are currently juniors. Danny Oquendo (DB, 6'1"-170lbs, 4.4 forty), Davon Smart (RB, 5'10"-185, 4.5 forty), and Alex Pierre (DB, 6'1"-180lbs, 4.5 forty) are among some of the best juniors in the state of New Jersey and the core of a talent rich Hackensack team. One of the Hackensack coaches stated that they have as many as seven Division 1A propects in the current freshmen class. Simply stated, they have approximately eleven Division 1A prospects currently in the school. He went further to say that this number could increase as players develop.
For now, Beljour will be one of three players on the Rutgers roster from Hackensack next fall and a welcome addition who will probably have some more company from his hometown in coming years.
