Dan Davis, 6-2, 250, 4.69, DT, LB, Plainfield HS, Plainfield, NJ
I Had a chance to catch up with the standout defensive tackle, from Plainfield, NJ, Daniel Davis. Here is what he had to say:
Hi Daniel. First of all, Congratulations on your commitment.
Besides Uconn, what other offers did you have?
"Rutgers, Virginia, Nebraska & a couple of D1-AA schools. Michigan State and Iowa were also pretty close to offering."
How strong is your commitment to Uconn?
"It's strong. That's where I am going."
What was special about Uconn that made you want to commit there?
"It was just consistency in talking to the coaches. They made it known how bad they wanted me and how much they wanted me there. When I went on the visit I was talking to the players, to the coaches, and everything was just so cool. It was also like that at Virginia and Rutgers. There were some issues with recalculating my GPA with Virginia and I couldn't wait for them to correct that."
Dan indicated that he no longer considered Nebraska due to their coaching uncertainty. As far as Iowa and Michigan State, he simply could not wait for them to offer - he felt as if everything at the University of Connecticut was just right for him.
What is your main goal during the next 4 or 5 years while at Uconn?
"To take the program to the top. They went 9-3 this year and they have a chance to be one of the top teams in the Big East soon." Dan stated that personally, his main goal is to continue to become a better person, to improve as a player and to make it to the NFL.
