A recruited walk-on surprise...

Recruited walk-on

Recruited walk-on

As the Rutgers program improves its recruiting, they also improve the quality walk-ons that they have joined the program. In the past few years, Rutgers has had some quality walk-ons such as Gary Brackett (now in the NFL) and recently Ramel Meekins.

During interviews of the current group of juniors, we uncovered a potential walk-on. Rob Crudup (OL, 6'2"-295 4.9 forty) might have been overlooked by college recruiters but will walk-on to Rutgers. Rob Crudup was on the recruiting lists of Syracuse, Virginia Tech, Notre Dame among others. However, he was unable to secure a scholarship. As a result, Rob Crudup will walk-on to Rutgers in an effort to earn a scholarship.

Although he did not receive a scholarship offer, Crudup is a solid player with a lot of upside. He is very athletic for a 295-pound man. He runs the forty yard dash in 4.9 seconds and squats over 550lbs. At Rutgers, he will probably redshirt and will play either guard or center.

Below are some photos of Rob Crudup, James Williams, and Eugene Monroe:
