New Jersey Athlete Has Plenty of Interest

New Jersey quarterback Keyron Sheard had an impressive junior season. The 6-1, 170-pound athlete has received plenty of interest so far from schools.

Keyron Sheard had an impressive junior season. "I think I threw for 1,100 yards and 11 touchdowns," said Sheard. "I also rushed for around 400 yards. I'm not sure how many touchdowns I had on the ground."

Sheard says he wants to play quarterback in college. "They are recruiting me as a quarterback and that is what I want to play in college. I'm 6-1, 170-pounds and I run a 4.6 40."

A number of schools have shown interest already. "I don't have any offers yet. Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee, Rutgers, Syracuse, Indiana and Iowa are some of the schools recruiting me."

Have the Irish been in contact? "They sent me something a while ago, but I haven't heard from them since. I would be very interested if they start recruiting me. I like their tradition and it's a good school."

Sheard also says he plans to take all of his visits. "I want to take them all. I want to make a good decision. I don't think I'll commit early."

We asked Sheard where he sat with his academics. "I don't really know my core g.p.a. I suppose I should find out. I scored an 850 on the PSAT. I haven't taken the SAT yet."

Comments: I've heard Sheard is a great athlete that could play a number of positions. He says he wants to play quarterback. We'll keep an eye on him and see if the Irish show more interest in the future.
