Rutgers Recruiting and Some Odds and Ends

Christopher Young

Oluwaseyi Oseni: 6'10", 235 pounds

Center from Rochester, New York, by way of Faith Christian Academy in Virginia.  He provides a strong inside presence.  He averages a shade over 9 rebounds per game and a shade under 5 blocks per game.  His offense is still raw but he has some low post maneuverability. The ACC, Big East and Big Ten, and several mid-majors are pursuing him.  Oseni will attend the ABCD camp this summer where all eyes will be on him.

Kendrick Price: 6'7", 205 pounds

Small Forward playing AAU ball for Metro Park.  A junior and a consensus top 75 small forward that attends Buckingham Browne and Nichols School in Boston.  He claims offers from Boston College, Connecticut, Syracuse, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Pittsburgh, Ohio State and Rhode Island.  Though still lacking the upper body strength suitable for his frame Price will be one of the more sought after wing players on the east coast.

Kiwan Smith: 6'6", 205 pounds

A Schenectady, NY native playing for Laurinburg Charter Preparatory School in North Carolina. Kiwan transferred from Bishop Loughlin in Brooklyn where he averaged 27 points, 6 rebounds, 11 assists, and 3 blocks per game.  He has been reclassified to his junior year (senior for 2005) and is being sought after by Big East and ACC schools.

Around the Big East:

Freshman forward Jerrah Young will be leaving the West Virginia University basketball program.  Young appeared in 21 games for the Mountaineers; he desired early playing time during his recruiting process, but saw his time diminish near the end of the season.  Young will have three years of eligibility remaining.  The bad news doesn't end there for the Mountaineers as Freshman point guard Tyler Relph, one of the more highly recruited players on the team has also announced his intention to transfer from West Virginia University.  Relph played in all 31 games averaging 5 points, 1 rebound, 1.5 assists and a shade under 18 minutes per game.  Tyler appeared to be coming into his own on a young Mountaineer squad which takes a big hit due to his leaving.
