Good defensive backs are difficult to find, especially ones with good coverage skills with the speed to match. Mike Brown (RB/DB, 5'9"-185lbs, 4.27 forty) from St. Peter's Prep in Jersey City, New Jersey is one of those coveted players. His skills are not limited to the DB position, he is a skilled RB who amassed over 900 yards on 55 carries for 18 TDs. He gained this yardage while sharing the backfield with two other runners (Rashawn Jackson and Keearye Griffin, both division IA prospects) Recruiters have definitely taken notice. Brown is one of the most highly recruited players in the state of New Jersey with over 25 scholarship offers, including offers from Tennessee, Rutgers, Miami, Penn State, Virginia, and Notre Dame.
We had an opportunity to get an update on his recruitment:
During our last interview,
you stated that you were developing your top 8 list. Have you completed it?
Currently, I have Rutgers, Virginia, Miami, Tennesse, Penn State, and Notre Dame in my list. Before the ending of the month, I will complete the list.
What are your feelings
Rutgers is real nice and a good deal, it's obvious that there putting a lot of money and time into shaping up there program and I have taken notice. They're right up in the top 8. I like them a lot. I think the only negative is that they just dont have enough players or elite players, right now. Hopefully that will change by the time I make my decision
Where will you attend
camp this summer?
Nowhere, I'm just taking unofficial visits. One of the my former teammates will play in the North-South All-Star Game and my team is in the Rutgers 7-on-7 passing tournment. So it ends up that I will be at Rutgers a lot (at least 3 or 4 times this summer).
