Daniel Oquendo - If I Had to Choose…

WR/S Daniel Oquendo (6-2, 180, 4.4) of Hackensack (NJ) prefers to stay on the East Coast. A slew of East Coast schools have made offers to Daniel. Who does he favor?

WR/S Daniel Oquendo (6-2, 180, 4.4) of Hackensack (NJ) admits Maryland and Rutgers lead slightly over Virginia Tech. "I like them all pretty much the same, but I guess if I had to pick, I'm leaning a little more toward Maryland and Rutgers," said Oquendo. Boston College and Syracuse are also in the mix. All have offered, plus many more. Oquendo has yet to visit Virginia Tech but he plans to visit in Aug and possibly officially visit the Hokies in Sept or Oct. When it comes to the Maryland and Rutgers campuses Oquendo says, "I can't pick a campus I like best, I like them both a lot because they're both really big."

"I just want to stay on the East Coast, because I guess California guys don't think I'm good enough."

Oquendo is being recruited as a WR by Maryland, a S by Virginia Tech, and Rutgers is recruiting him for either side of the ball. "I haven't decided what position I want to play. I think I'm really good at both," said Oquendo. "I just want to go to whatever school I can start first."

Oquendo claims to run a 4.4 forty, but explains, "People don't think that I'm that fast…but if they give me a chance I can rush right by them. I can also jump pretty high because I'm 6'2 and most defensive players are only 5'8 or 5'9."
