NJ All Stars Have Great Peach Jam Event

The New Jersey All Stars had a terrific Peach Jam tournament.

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. -- New Jersey did its part, winning its final pool game against Athletes First, and then got a little help from the Houston Hoops to claim one of the final playoff spots yesterday at the Nike Peach Jam Invitational. With Houston's 82-77 win over the Georgia Stars and the All-Stars' 62-47 victory over Athletes First, New Jersey grabbed second place in Pool A over Georgia. In both teams' openers on Wednesdsay, the All-Stars crushed the Stars, 110-80.

With both teams finishing 3-2 in pool play, the head-to-head result proved to be the decisive tie-breaker.

Lawrenceville combo guard Craig Moore led a balanced New Jersey attack with 13 points and four assists. Guard Paul Gause and forward Maurice Thomas each chipped in 12 points, while Rutgers bound Jaron Griffin tallied 10.

Taylor Griffin, the undersized yet strong 6-6 power forward from Athletes First, tied for team high scoring honors with nine points.
