To date, Hughes has received offers from North Carolina and Pittsburgh. Hughes attended "Blue Chip" weekend at the University of North Carolina ("UNC") on July 24th and came away impressed. "I was extremely impressed with North Carolina, the school, its facilities, coaching and tradition." Regarding Pittsburgh, Hughes has yet to visit, but is hoping to make an unofficial visit before school starts. In addition to the two schools that have offered Kevin, Rutgers, Michigan State and Syracuse are also recruiting him. Kevin has also taken unofficial visits to Virginia and Boston College.
So, where does this leave Rutgers in the mix?
"Rutgers has yet to offer me although it seems like they might based on conversations I have had with the coaches and also based on my experience at the recent Rutgers camp. On the hand, the possibility exists that they may not make an offer."
When asked how he thought Rutgers compared to North Carolina, Hughes had this to say, "It is not that I wasn't impressed with Rutgers and their facilities, because I am, it is just that I was extremely impressed with everything I experienced at UNC." Kevin was noncommittal when asked if he would attend Rutgers, if offered. "No, not necessarily, I want to wait and see if any additional offers come in and then I will weigh everything and make a decision."
What is clear is that Hughes will continue and wait to see if he gets offers from Rutgers, Syracuse, Boston College and Michigan State and probably hold off on a decision until sometime later this fall.
