However, presently Cottman is sitting with just two offers, North Carolina and Louisville. "I know I would have a lot more offers, if not for the worries about my grades," said Rahmir. Rahmir is presently attending summer school where he is working to raise his GPA of between 2.2 and 2.4. "I am confident that taking classes this summer will boost my GPA and I am preparing to take the SAT's in the fall."
When asked his feeling regarding the two schools that have offered, Rahmir said that while he has taken an unofficial visit to North Carolina, he has yet to visit Louisville or meet with their coaches. Cottmans feelings on North Carolina were extremely positive. "The campus is beautiful and I really got along with the coaches as well. They have a great tradition down there that would be fun to be a part of."
Cottman believes that a number of schools are employing a wait and see approach. "I have been contacted by Temple, Virginia Tech, Boston College and Maryland. Of the four schools that have been in contact with Rahmir, he has only visited Maryland. "I really got to know the coaches very well and liked the facilities and tradition of the program."
Does Rutgers figure into Cottman's plans?
"That is a good question. I have made two unofficial visits to Rutgers and have met with Coach Schiano and Coach Susan, but I have no idea if they are going to offer me." When asked his feelings about Rutgers and whether he would consider them if offered, Rahmir didn't hesitate. " New Brunswick is a great town and the school is close to home, which is important to me." If offered by Rutgers, Rahmir would certainly consider them, however, he is very high on North Carolina and Maryland. "We'll just have to see how things play themselves out. "
Although Rahmir has talked to Will Gilkison who also hails from Red Bank Regional, his Grandma will be the driving force behind helping Rahmir decide where he will spend the next four years. Rahmir hopes to choose a school before the end of football season.
