When a team has a big win, it is important to have recruits either watching in person or on television. Rutgers had one of those victories on Sept. 4th against Michigan State in front of a record crowd and a regional TV audience on ABC. One of the recruits that were watching on TV was Dennis Landolt (OL, 6'5"-275lbs) ,the standout offensive tackle from Holy Cross H.S in Delran, New Jersey. Landolt felt Rutgers played a good game and it was a step forward for the program.
The victory solidified Rutgers among his favorites and places them in contension for one of his five visits. However, Penn State and Virginia Tech remain his co-leaders followed by Boston College and Rutgers.
To date, he has only scheduled an official visit to Penn State for Nov. 6th for their game against Northwestern. He is working on scheduling visits for Virginia Tech and Boston College. Rutgers, Michigan State, Syracuse, and Northwestern are competing for the final two visits.
Landolt stated that there is not much separating his favorites. Therefore, comfort level and how he fits into the scheme will be some key factors in his decision making process. Since most of his favorites will have successful seasons, the team's record will not be a determining factor.
He hopes to have a decision a few weeks into the season or shortly after the season.
