Rutgers has been the benefactor of some of the best publicity in many years with the victory over Michigan State. The Rutgers Football program has attracted the attention of the national media. However, there are a number of top prospects that Rutgers had attracted their attention before the MSU victory. Jerome Hayes (LB/RB, 6'2"-225lb, 4.6 forty) from Bayonne High School in Bayonne, New Jersey is one of those recruits who have held the Scarlet Knights in high regard before the victory. He went as far as saying that he not only expected the victory but expects for the Scarlet Knights to gather a lot of wins this year. He stated, "With the talented and explosive athletes that they have on the team they should win a lot of games this season". He quantified it by saying, "they should win 7 or more games; what would surprise me, if they did not win".

What impressed him more than the Scarlet Knights performance on the field was the impressive turnout by the Rutgers fans, which resulted in a Rutgers Stadium record crowd. He stated that "it was something that I would have never expected down there".

Did the Rutgers victory move the Scarlet Knights up Hayes' list of favorites?
He stated that he knows what Rutgers has to offer (playing in front of his friends, family, and building a winner) but he would like to see what else is out there. Therefore, Rutgers remains among his list of top 5 schools; which includes Miami, Florida, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, and Michigan State.

Did the Rutgers victory over MSU give Rutgers an advantage in his recruitment?
Hayes stated that it is only one game and what is more important is how they finish the season.

Hayes is still planning on making a decision either on National Letter of Intent Day or at the U.S. Army All-American game. The Rutgers faithful will be awaiting that decision and the Insiders will be sure to provide you with it.
