Is His Recruiting Opening Up?

Just as many Rutgers fans were beginning to think they were all but out of the running for one of their hometown stars he takes a little trip to Piscataway to watch the Scarlet Knights defeat Kent State. Does this mean he may be considering Rutgers?

While his nephew was busy taking a prep class for the SAT test Pete Reeves discussed the recruitment of 4-star defensive tackle Kade Weston (6-5, 300, 5.0).

"He's taking prep classes for the SAT, if he doesn't pass that then not much of this stuff really matters," said Reeves

Reeves estimates that the Red Bank Regional (NJ) high school standout has between 25-30 scholarship offers. So who stands out among all of the offers?

"I would say they are all in the running. He mentions Georgia, Maryland, Florida, and Penn State a lot, but until we sit down and cut the list down I would say everyone has a chance."

Well I'd be remised if I didn't ask about the in-state Rutgers program or other Big East schools. Do any of them have a legitimate chance of landing Weston?

Kade went to the Rutgers game on Saturday so to me that shows he's still interested. He has also taken unofficial visits to Boston College and Syracuse."

The Reeves-Weston connection has ties to the state of Georgia, that's a big reason why Kade is considering the Bulldogs.

"I have a son and a daughter who live in Georgia, my daughter recently gave birth to my granddaughter so a few weeks back I went down there to see her. While I was there I went over to the University. The campus was nice I was impressed but Kade is the one who will be living wherever he goes for 4-5 years so he'll have to decide for himself.

As a junior Weston registered 114 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, and he forced 5 fumbles.

Red Bank is (1-1) on the season and lost their last game 47-7, did Weston do well?

"They got killed so I don't know if I'd say anyone did well, but he played alright," laughed Reeves
