The Chancellor Brothers Coming Up North

The offers have poured in for Miami (Fla.) Edison Senior HS defensive back Chris Chancellor (5' 9" and 160 pounds). The talented DB continues to put up impressive numbers and is now receiving some national recognition.

The offers have poured in for Miami (Fla.) Edison Senior HS defensive back Chris Chancellor (5' 9" and 160 pounds).  He is one of the most talented DBs in the sunshine state, and holds numerous offers from a number of BCS schools including, Miami, Florida State, North Carolina State, Oklahoma State, Maryland, Rutgers, Clemson, Syracuse, and Michigan State.  He has also received offers from the likes of Southern Illinois, Southern Florida and Louisiana - Lafayette.

Chancellor had initially scheduled to attend Rutgers' opening game versus Michigan State but Hurricane Frances derailed all hopes of that occurrence.  Chancellor has re-scheduled and will be taking his first official visit to the State of Rutgers to watch West Virginia and Rutgers on October 30.  He will be joined by his brother Demerick Chancellor, whom Rutgers is also recruiting.

With 17 career interceptions to his name, Chancellor would like to amass about 7 or 8 more, during his Senior season, to solidify his name in the record books.  He currently has 5 interceptions on the season, including 2 returned for touchdowns.

"I have 5 INTs and 2TDs on the season.  They keep throwing my way.  Eventually they'll learn not to."

With this kind of confidence it's no wonder schools from across the nation are seeking the services of the talented prospect.

"Recruiting is going good.  Everything is good now."

Although Chancellor is taking his first visit to Rutgers, that does not necessarily indicate that the Scarlet Knights are at the top of his list.

"I have no favorites right now.  I have no Top 5."

However, with Rutgers being his first official visit, one would correctly assume that the New Jersey school is among the group of schools that Chancellor is most interested in.

"Rutgers is definitely up there.  They have a lot of kids from down here.  Coach Demarest is very good to communicate with."

Additional schools include Miami:

"Coach Shannon keeps in contact.  Miami is up there.  They send a lot of kids to the NFL."

At this time Chancellor states that he will narrow down his schools and make his decision sometime in mid-January, after taking all of his official visits.

An additional distinction that Chancellor has just received is a nomination for the prestigious All-America Bowl.  He is now awaiting final decision on his inclusion to the team.  The date to await is November 20th.
