Defensive back is the position of particular emphasis for the Scarlet Knights. After a call from Andre Gladness (CB, 5'10 -170lbs, 4.42 forty) of Goose Creek, South Carolina and after reviewing his tape, the Scarlet Knights have shown interest. Gladness is blessed with good speed, which is displayed by a 4.42 in the forty and a 49.4 in the 400M. But Rutgers is not the only school who is interested in his abilities. Cincinnati and Neveda has already offered scholarships. There should be more teams joining in on his recruitment as he continues to send out his highlight films.
Gladness is in a unique position. Last year, he was scheduled to graduate high school. However, he did not have the necessary grades to accept a scholarship. Instead of graduating and attending a JUCO or Prep School, he opted to return to high school and retake a number of the classes that he did not receive a good grade. In December, he is scheduled to graduate. He already has the necessary SAT scores but he will be retaking the SATs this weekend. After scoring a 960 in an earlier attempt, he hopes to receive a 1100 to ensure his eligibility.
As a senior, he registered 55 tackles, 3 for losses, and 4 fumble recoveries. He also had 9 Ints, 5 pass breakups, and a block kick.
Gladness also has an identical twin brother Andrew, who plays FS. Andrew had an unbelievable 148 tackles, 7 blocked kicks, 4 Ints, 1 Int for TD, and 4 forced fumbles as a senior. Like his brother, he has good speed and runs a 4.39 forty. Both brothers have an outstanding vertical, Andrew has a 40 inch and Andre has a 36in.
We will keep you updated on his status.
