Jersey Back Still Interested in Rutgers

The Scarlet Knights have endured their share of woes this season on and off the field. Rutgers has not performed up to expectations on the field, and fans have watched as several of the “Garden State’s” top prospects have verbally pledged elsewhere. All is not lost as there are still several very promising New Jersey Prospects that are still considering staying home for college.

Hackensack (NJ) running back Davon Smart (5-11, 190, 4.5) has missed his team’s last three games with a variety of injuries. This weekend he is set to return for a big clash against St. Joseph’s.

“This is a big game for us I need to play,” said Smart

Hackensack is (6-1) this year as Smart has rushed for 450 yards and 5 touchdowns in 4 games.

Smart recently received his fourth offer as Temple sent one in the mail. He held previous offers from Pittsburgh, Connecticut, and Rutgers. Four new schools have entered the picture recently as Smart has been receiving calls from Iowa, Boston College, North Carolina, and NC State. As far as visits go none have been set, but Smart has an idea of who may get them.

“I’ll definitely try and visit the schools that have offered, unless someone new offers that interests me.”

Smart attended the Scarlet Knights victory over Michigan State earlier in the year. How interested is he in playing for the state University?

“They have talent no doubt, I’m still very interested in them. I can’t say I’ll go there just because I’m from New Jersey.”
