Miami is making Northwestern High standout offensive lineman a major priority, it appears. "CJ, Coach Coker, and the DB coach (Tim Walton) all came to my house yesterday," Barney said. "They were here talking to me and my mom. She had a lot of questions so they wanted to make sure everything was good with her as far as UM goes. They're trying to get three new linemen and I know they just got a commitment from a guy they really like, Reginald Youngblood. I've never seen him play but they seem real happy about him. Like I've always said, UM is right near the top for me."
Barney, 6-5 and 330 pounds, has been on two official visits so far and plans on taking three more. "I went to NC State on the 3rd and Rutgers on the 10th," he said. "They were both tight. NC State's got a lot of guys from down here and they made me feel at home. I went to Rutgers with Dustin (Forston) and Leron (King) and we chilled with some of those guys, Clarence Pittman (a former teammate). That was nice too. That program is on the rise."
Barney and his two teammates will take at least one more visit together. "The three of us are going to Kansas this weekend," he said. "Then in January, I got Miami on the 21st and then my final visit will either be to USC or Oklahoma. I haven't decided on that last one yet."
The talented lineman says he's not ready to name a favorite. "It's hard to say who the favorite would be right now because I still have some more visits to take," he said.
