Over the last week, Rutgers has added a number of skilled players to their 2005 recruiting class with the committments of Jabulani Lovelace, Chris McClover, and Davon Smart. But games are won and lost on the line. Therefore, Rutgers will pursue the addition of more linemen to the class. One of the targets is Dave McClain. After de-committing from Maryland, the big OL has attracted scholarship offers from Purdue, Marshall, Louisville, Temple, and Rutgers along with strong interest from Tennessee, Arkansas, and Louisana State.
During the weekend of December
17th, the Doylestown native left the Rutgers campus and returned impressed
with the facilities, coaching staff, and players. His mother stated that "he
really enjoyed it". She also stated that the coaching staff "has gone
above and beyond working to answer all our questions and concerns." She
also stated that "distance is not a factor, however if he chooses Rutgers
of course I will be able to bug him a little more".
Since McClain looks to start school in January, he hopes to make a decision by Saturday and end the recruiting process. We have confirmed that he is down to two schools. The names of the schools have not been disclosed. However, some of the most important factors to him is a great relationship with the coaches, a strong program, and good graduation rate among student-athlete.
A decision is expected to be made within the next 48 hours.
