In the summer, Brian Roche committed to Rutgers. After a disappointing season for the Scarlet Knights, Roche subsequently decided to de-commit from the Scarlet Knights and has reopened his recruitment. Since Roche is one of the nation's best OLs, there were a long list of suitors ready to court him.
Roche has taken visits to Michigan State and Louisville. On his Louisville visit, he was accompanied by Brian Cushing, Darius Mann, and Corey Wooten. Roche stated, " I think its a program on the rise... they had a great season this year. Coach Petrino is a good guy and a good coach".
Currently, he has visits scheduled for North Carolina State for January 14 and Notre Dame for January 28th. The tradition and the new coaching staff at Notre Dame has really peaked his interest. He stated that "I like Coach Weiss. He was down to see me on Monday and I think he is a real good coach. They are going to be successful over the next couple years"
However, Roche does not have a leader and plans to take a fifth visit. Some of the programs that could get his fifth visit are Florida, Purdue, Rutgers, and Georgia Tech. That is right, Rutgers could be one of his five visits. Rutgers Tight End Coach and Recruiting coordinator, Joe Susan had an in-house visit with Roche on Tuesday night. But how interested is Roche? He stated that "at this point, I don't know. Coach Susan just left here. I'm really not sure, things are tight now though". He added, "I haven't spoken to them much until this week. Obviously, I liked them before, I'm just going to let things unfold and see what happens."
Since Signing Day is less than a month away, what are some of the factors in his decision making process? Brian stated that "I'm mostly looking for a place that I can go and be successful during college and that will get me ready to try and play at the next level. A place where I feel comfortable with the coaches and players and that I think I can enjoy my college experience. And a place where I fit into the system and have an opportunity to play early "
