Four-star LB Jerome Hayes is one of the most highly recruited players in the country and has been offered by over 30 programs. To date, he has taken visits to Michigan State, Rutgers, Florida, and Miami. There are a number of other schools like Michigan, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, and Louisville that would like to receive his fifth and final visit. However, Jerome has started to shutdown the recruiting process. As a result, he has trimmed his list of schools down to 3. The final three schools are Florida, Miami, and Rutgers.
What are his feelings on his final three?
Rutgers - "They have been recruiting me since day one. I know that I would be taken care of there."
Florida - "The change in the coaching staff did not affect me. They have a great track record of success"
Miami - "They have a lot of tradition. They win. The program provides a lot of great exposure and the coaches are great people."
He stated that all three schools are equal and there is currently no favorite among the group.
Initially, he was planning on making a decision at the U.S. Army All-American game. However, he stated that a decision can be made at anytime. It will depend on the school where he feels the most comfortable at. Among his three finalists, he is determining which school will provide him with the most playing time, the ability to improve, and where he can find success (on and off the field). His family will assist in his final decision but it will ultimately be his decision.
As far as, where he will
play in college? He stated that he will play whatever position gets him on the
field the fastest - RB or LB. His goal is to play and start as a true freshman.
If he is found not to be ready to play, redshirting is a possibility.
