Jerome Hayes Getting Close

The All-American prospect from Bayonne HS in New Jersey remains one of the top uncommitted players in the country. Hayes has taken four official visits thus far and was recently contemplating taking a fifth. With LOI day drawing closer, does Hayes still intend on taking his fifth and final visit?

Bayonne (N.J.) four-star linebacker Jerome Hayes, 6-2 and 225 pounds, is preparing for his final official visit to Penn State.

Penn State narrowly edged Nebraska for the fifth and final official visit.

"I got a cousin there, so it will be nice to see him," Hayes said.

Hayes was set to take an unofficial trip to Rutgers (1/21), but the inclement weather put a damper on those plans.

"I think we got about 14 inches of snow here," Hayes said. Hayes insists that he is still seriously considering Miami, Penn State, Rutgers, and Florida.

"I like them all, they are all great schools."

Hayes has already tripped to Miami (12/17 official trip), Florida (10/8), Rutgers (12/3) and Michigan State (12/10/2004), but favors Miami, Florida, Rutgers and Penn State.

As with most recruits during this time of year, rumors have surfaced about Hayes being eligible or not. The U.S. Army All-American cleared those rumors up quickly.

"I have a 2.8 GPA and I scored 810 on the SAT, I'm straight."
