Focus '06: Queen of Peace DL

This year's class of New Jersey Juniors is once again expected to produce a large portion of the nation's top 100 players. One DL who is expected to make that list is Mike Gee from Queen of Peace High School.

Few linemen can carry 240 Lbs on a 6' 2" frame, yet still run the 40 in 4.7 seconds, yet Mike Gee is one of those rare combinations of size and speed. Mike had a shortened Junior year campaign due to a transfer from Don Bosco to Queen of Peace, but in only 6 games, he made 45 tackles.

Since the end of the season, Mike has continued to work out frequently, trying to improve his weight and speed.

As would be expected, Mike has a boatload of contacts from schools such as Louisville, Boston College, Alabama, Wisconsin, Purdue, Nebraska, UConn and Rutgers. Mike is still considering all of his options equally, but he says that his choice school will have a winning tradition where he has good relations with the coaching staff and can get a quality education. In the meantime, Mike does not expect to make a choice before considering all of his options and making all of his permitted visits. He expects to attend Junior days at Maryland and Virginia.

What does Mike think of his State University? Rutgers coaches Schiano, Rizzi, and Susan have been recruiting Mike for a while and he states he likes the facilities. Rutgers is "getting better each year on the field, but I'd like to see some more progress." Mike missed Rutgers Junior day, but is considering attending the Rutgers , Elite or Nike Combines.

It is still early in the recruiting process for Mike, but will continue to follow this impressive athlete.
