Focus '06: Christian Brothers DE

Christian Brothers Academy defensive end McKenzie Mathews, 6-2 and 240 pounds, has developed a reputation of one of the fiercest pass rushers in the Northeast.

Last season, as a junior Mathews tallied 50 tackles, 10 for a loss, 12.5 sacks, and he blocked 3 kicks. He earned All-Central New York honors for his efforts.

Rutgers was the first team to offer Mathews a scholarship earlier this year, today he earned his second.

"Alabama offered me a scholarship today," Mathews said.

Mathews is currently working at trying to make himself even better.

"I'm working on my strength, and trying to get faster," Mathews said.
