Spotlight '06: St. Joe's LB

Chris DellaFave started at the Guard position last year for the St. Joe's Green Knights, but will be making the move to LB this year. At 6-feet and 226-pounds DellaFave, will look to punish opposing offenses next year while getting adjusted to one of two possible positions he is being recruited for at the next level.

Chris DellaFave was one of many regional standout juniors in attendance at the recent Elite College Combine.  Currently at 6-feet and 226-pounds, DellaFave, who played the Guard position for St. Joe's last year, will be making the move to LB next year. Indeed, it was as a LB that he tested as at the Elite College Combine.

While DellaFave did not perform as well as he knows he could have in the 40-yard dash, he was impressive in two other trials.

"I ran a 4.4 in the shuttle and my broad jump was a 9` 1" 1/4," stated DellaFave.

DellaFave, who is being recruited as both a fullback and a linebacker, ably demonstrated his athletic ability on several occasions during the one-on-ones by keeping his opposition in front of him and by means of his timing stepping in front of the WR he was covering to bat away several passes.

The list of schools DellaFave is receiving interest from spans both coasts and includes both D-1A and 1-AA:  Alabama, Texas Christian University, Virginia, New Hampshire, Northeastern, San Diego, Princeton, Alabama State, Western Michigan, James Madison, Holy Cross, and UMASS.

For now, DellaFave will continue acting the part of a gym rat in preparation for spring camps and his senior season.

"I workout at DeFranco's 3 times a week.  I do a max effort 1 day for upper body and a dynamic another and then a dynamic day for lower body."

DellaFave, even as a junior going in to his senior year, possesses impressive numbers in the gym.  He maxes out at 350 on the flat bench press, squats an impressive 500 pounds, and deadlifts an outstanding 640 pounds.

With the month of May reaching the halfway point, many of today's soon to be seniors are now deciding on summer camps and trips to a variety of schools.  Has DellaFave planned where he may be heading to camp this summer?

"Yeah, I'm going to Boston College for their camp [with St. Joe's Regional HS] and then I'm going to senior days at Virginia Tech, Princeton, Connecticut, Delaware and Maryland.  Virginia Tech is 7/9, Princeton is 7/15, Uconn is 6/28, Maryland is 6/19 and Delaware is 6/26."

DellaFave will also be in attendance when Rutgers hosts its annual summer camp in New Jersey later on this summer.

DellaFave, is an excellent student in the classroom and holds a 3.5 GPA.
