Top Back looking to impress at Summer Camps

Greg Schiano and staff have made their sales pitch to several of the "Garden State's" finest; one particular running back is still waiting for an offer and is hopeful that a strong summer camp performance will earn him one.

It's a rarity to find one of the top running backs in the Northeast sitting here in June without a scholarship offer, but that's what is happening with Monmouth Junction (N.J.) South Brunswick standout Vince Davidson (5-11, 195, 4.44).

"I don't know what it is; maybe once I get my SAT score they'll start to offer," Davidson said.

Davidson is scheduled to take the SAT exam this Saturday, so within a few weeks he should have his answer. He is receiving interest from a number of schools including Maryland, Virginia, Boston College, Rutgers, Florida State, Penn State, Iowa State, South Florida, Connecticut, Syracuse, and Virginia.

The fleet-footed back has taken two unofficial visits this year to Rutgers and Virginia.

Rutgers: "The campus and the weight room are nice; everything they showed me was nice."

Virginia: "I didn't get to see much only a few buildings, we didn't get to look around very much."

Davidson will take his show on the road this summer to a number of college camps including Maryland (6/20), Connecticut (6/22), Rutgers (6/27), Syracuse (6/30), and one last possible stop in Virginia.

"I can't wait to get out and show these coaches what I can do," Davidson said.

As a junior Davidson ran for 1,200 yards and 16 touchdowns, he earned All-Area and All-County honors for his efforts. Davidson performed well at the Elite College Combine in New Jersey back in May when he ran a (4.44) 40-yard dash, a (4.19) shuttle and he posted a (9'-3") broad jump.
