Games are won and lost in the trenches. As a result, college recruiters are always searching for good linemen with a size to compete at the given school's level of competition. Charles Smith (OT, 6'6"-385lbs) has the size and the explosiveness to be a force on the offensive line for the program of his choice.
Currently, Smith has a written offer from Rutgers and a lot of interest from
Virginia, Virginia Tech, Nebraska, Michigan, Clemson, North Carolina, Louisville,
Georgia Tech, and Marshall. Many of the schools on his list wanted to have him
attend their camps to evaluate his abilities. Nebraska, Maryland, and Rutgers
were the lucky schools to have Smith attend their camp. Since he attended these
camps, he was unable to attend the camps of Virginia and Marshall.
Smith has the following feelings on his favorites:
- Facilities- likes the stadium and weight room
- Education - Likes the Computers Science curriculum and the graduation rate.
- He really liked the coaching staff
- Good education and football team.
- They are his leader.
- First team to show interest and write him.
- Technical school and has a lot to offer.
- Great history with football and linemen.
Smith intends on making a decision during the middle of the football season. This depends on the number of offers and who they are from. Smith stated that if Virginia offers him a scholarship, there is a good chance that he would commit to the school. His mother likes the school and he grew up watching the school as a child.
Although he feels strongly about UVa, he really likes Rutgers. He stated that " it is a great school. I have a good relationship with Cary Godette (DL coach). I can see myself playing there".
