Rutgers offers rising St. Joe's DB

Terrence Klein's Rutgers camp performance, albeit for but a single day, was sufficiently impressive to turn a few heads. And those heads eventually turned into a couple of offers.

"Rutgers offered about 1 week after camp," stated Terrence Klein, the rising soon to be senior from St. Joseph's Regional HS in Montvale, New Jersey.

"I just went home one day and I got this big thing in the mail from Delaware. So I open it up but it turns out that they're just inviting me to a camp. I got something similar from Rutgers and I thought it would be something similar."

Instead, what Klein found was an envelope with a letter stating that Rutgers had extended an offer.

"I wasn't expecting this at all," stated Klein in regards to the Rutgers scholarship.

The University of New Hampshire stepped forward with a scholarship offer soon after.

Now holding two written offers, Klein lists Rutgers, New Hampshire, Delaware and Richmond as his favorites.

Klein has had a busy summer participating at the Monmouth 7-on-7 (St. Joe's won this tournament in decisive fashion one week prior to the Rutgers event) and Rutgers 7-on-7 (St. Joe's lost in the semi-finals to the eventual champion), attending a number of other Camps (e.g., Boston College) and Combines (Elite College Combine).

With an eye on his recruitment, Klein and his teammates have already begun to focus on their upcoming senior season for St. Joe's. Klein was earlier voted as one of St. Joe's' 2005 captains. He and the rest of the Green Knights held their first Captain's Practice yesterday evening at St. Joseph's (Scout.com will be covering St. Joe's in depth this summer and upcoming fall).

Given the surprising offer from Rutgers and UNH's quick follow-up, is there a chance Klein could be pulling the trigger soon?

"It would be great to get it done sometime during the season."
