One of the more common and notable statements by coaches is "you can not teach size". As a result, coaches are tirelessly looking for prospects with size, speed, and athleticism to successfully compete on their level of play. At 6'6"-385lbs, Charles Smith has more than enough size that schools desire in offensive linemen. At the Rutgers football camp, Smith displayed sufficient potential and athleticism to leave the camp with a written scholarship offer.
At this time, Rutgers is his only written offer. However, Virginia (leader), Louisville, Marshall, and Virginia Tech have expressed a lot of interest. Since the only camp he attended was Rutgers, many of the schools that have not offered are waiting for film from his first two games. Therefore, Smith is using the summer to train, prepare for his senior season, and put on a show for those that are requesting his first two games film.
After the season, Smith intends scheduling all of his visits and making a decision
